AIRFIELD SITE : Hardstand No.9

It is understood that Hardstand No.9, one of the few remaining hardstands at Bassingbourn, was the one that the B-17 'Memphis Belle' parked on when it was based at here. The crew of this particular aircraft were one of the first to have completed 25 missions during the war, they later became the subject of a Hollywood film.

Sadly after a long period of being closed, it was hoped the museum would re-open. However the museum was forced to shut permanently in 2020 and the collection is in storage. It is not currently known what the future plans are.
