This mural was painted by Sgt Irving Smith of the 356th Fighter Group based at Martlesham Heath. It was commissioned by Mrs L Rope as a memorial to her husband, Squadron Leader Michael Rope who was killed in the R101 Airship disaster on 5 October 1930.
